Honestly, blogging is a never-ending cycle of working and learning. It changes so fast, there is always something new to know.

Blogging doesn’t stop when you write a post and publish it. You also have to take care of things like:

  • Marketing your blog
  • Backlink building
  • Maintain your blog
  • Reading and responding to comments
  • Blog SEO
  • And so much more you might don’t even think of

I created a list with my 50 most essential blogging tips a new blogger can have. I hope this will help you be more successful with your blog and grow it quickly.

  2. Do your research. Read other blogs regularly, and follow other bloggers.
  3. Have a business plan for your blog.
  4. Pick your niche carefully. Don’t try to write for everybody! Select a smaller niche and focus on their specific needs and problems.
  5. Instead of using a free domain name (ex: domain.blogspot.com), get a custom domain name for your blog. It’s more professional, and it builds your brand.

  7. Choose a blog name that is easy to remember and spell. Your blog name and domain name should be the same. If possible, use keywords in these two.
  8. Learn search engine optimization. SEO is really important for blogs, both to drive free traffic and to build your reputation. Here is an article about Blog SEO
  9. Use proper link building strategy and try to get more backlinks from other blogs in your niche, especially the blogs with higher page rankings.
  10. Pay attention to your post title and meta description as this will help you get better rankings.
  11. Page loading time is an important user experience factor. Be sure your blog loads within 3 seconds.
  12. Choose the right plugins.
  13. Don’t use too many widgets on your blog. Use only the most important and relevant ones.
  14. Clean up your plugins. Using too many plugins may slow down your blog. Keep plugins limited and delete those you don’t use.
  15. Make a schedule for blogging. Factor in how many articles you will publish in a week and how much time you will spend on your blog’s marketing.
  16. Build an email list. It’s important to have people’s email addresses and their permission that you can send email to them, if you ever want to sell or promote something, or send people updates from your blog.

  44. Use analytics for complete blog statistics, like Google Analytics. Check the statistics regularly.
  45. If you have a large readership base, monetize your blog. Don’t do it too early.
  46. Don’t ask your readers to click ads. You will be permanently banned.
  47. Interact with other bloggers in your niche by commenting on their blogs and through social media. When commenting, always read the full article and give your honest opinion. Also, do not spam!
  48. Reply to comments on your post. Readers usually love it when their comment gets a response, and they will come back and comment again.
