Are you thinking of start a new blog?

My advice is: stop thinking. Do it now!

Here are the some of the biggest reasons why I personally think you should start blogging immediately:

  1. It’s affordable

Anyone can start a blog for free. There are a lot of blogging platforms that offer ready-to-start blogs.

And if you want to take it a step further, want to customize your blog, and get more opportunities in blogging, you can self-host your blog, which is not free, but very affordable for almost anyone. I use a self-hosted Word Press blogging platform that I can recommend. For hosting, I am with GoDaddy.

You can buy your own domain, hosting, and even Word Press maintenance for less than $100.

  1. It helps to build an audience

Blogging enables you to reach thousands or even millions of people. Blogging works as a method for attracting an audience because it provides something of value to them with free, valuable content.

People often have a problem or frustration they want to resolve. That’s why they search on the internet, and that’s why they read blog posts.

With blogging, you can spread your thoughts and knowledge. It’s an opportunity to give something to others. You can even help other people solve their specific problems, and potentially change their lives.

These visitors can be converted to customers later.

  1. It challenges you

We all need some challenges in our life. Blogging always challenges you, and makes you step out of your comfort zone.

Start blogging is pretty easy – we all usually have quite a few good ideas for posts to get started. But writing regularly, coming up with new ideas, and building a community? That is not as easy. These are the challenges that keep you learning and growing.

Just like every other thing you want to succeed at, you have to be consistent. Blogging teaches you how to be consistent, and stay focused.

  1. It boosts your business

The Internet is a huge opportunity for businesses. Even brick-and-mortar business customers often look up information online about the business before deciding to interact with them.

If your potential customers can read interesting stories about your company’s success, ideas, strategies, and your latest products, chances are good that they will turn into paying customers.

Blogging can open a lot of doors for your business, including many of which you might have not been aware.

  1. It makes you a better writer

Writing is communication. Writing a blog is building a community with which you communicate regularly. You can improve your writing skills with practice, and you will become better in communication.

I live in the US, but I was born in Hungary, so English is my second language., When I started blogging, my grammar, communication, and argumentation skills were really poor.

Blogging has had a huge impact on my writing skills since I started. They still may not be perfect, but I feel a lot more confident in my abilities, and have seen a noticeable improvement. My editor says the same.

Practicing any skill consistently is a sure way to improve, and this applies to writing, as well. The more you write, the easier it becomes.

  1. It drives traffic to your website

When your blog is ready, Google starts crawling your pages and will list your page on their search results.

It means you will start receiving free visitors from the search engines. These visitors likely find value in your blog, because they searched for it.

  1. Learn new things

Blogging is about sharing what you know and what you are learning.

When you have a blog post idea, how do you start? You do some research, right?

You always learn new things about your topic and industry; it comes naturally with blogging.

When you keep blogging, you will always keep learning as well. Start blogging is just the beginning of this never-ending learning cycle.

  1. Validate your expertise

Your blog is your resume.

If you keep providing valuable, detailed information about your topic, you can easily become an expert in your field.

People tend to be shy when it comes to sharing smart things. They think they have to hide their knowledge, because that’s how they were raised. Be humble, they were told.

Don’t be afraid to share your knowledge; it will validate your expertise.

  1. Create a community

One aspect of blogging is that people tend to seek other people with similar views and interests, and will search out blogs that they can relate to. As your blog audience grows, you will often notice specific people visiting your blog on a regular basis, even actively and consistently commenting on your posts.

This can drive conversation, inspire new ideas, and even generate real-world friendships.

  1. Make Money

If you have a blog with a lot of readers, there is a possibility that you can monetize your site. It takes time to build it up and get enough visitors, but once you do, you will have opportunities to earn income through your blog.

Blogging can be a great side income, but there are many full time bloggers too. Start blogging, start earning!
